VILLA HISTORY

Villa History

Villa Margarida was built in 1985 when the area was just small farms and a single dirt track to Galé beach.
It was one of ten villas  on an Urbanisation called Alveola, there were no other properties in the area.
Since then, for good or bad, many of the farms have disappeared and have been replaced by villas and low rise apartments , restaurants  and shops to service the properties.
In 1998 my wife and I  purchased the villa for a life style change, and for our four sons and grand children to enjoy with us.
In January 2002, at the age of 55, we gave up work and moved to the villa full time.  Once there, and free from the restraints of the UK , we were able to use our skills and expertise  to upgrade the villa, year on year to its modern day condition.
To finance this work  we would rent out the villa  for a few weeks in summer,  which paid for the yearly improvements we undertook.
Looking back the changes were substantial and beneficial.
Some of these were:

(1) Installation of a wood burning fire.
(2) Installation of a large satellite system to receive UK TV channels.
(3) Replacement of all 3 bathrooms.
(4) Replacement of all tiled floors throughout.
(5 )Installation  of a modern light oak kitchen with black granite work tops.
(6) Complete removal and replacement of pool terrace and tiling.
(7) Removal and replacement of all pool pipework and filters.
(8) Replacement  of all patio doors and windows with double glazing to UK standards.
(9)  Installation of large Solar system to feed both hot water and swimming pool.
(10) Complete rewire of electrics to modern safety standards.
(11) Installation of full gas central heating.
(12) Installation of group 3 security  alarm system.
(13) Replacement of all plumbing pipework throughout.
(14) Installation of 2m high solid decking wood fence to rear of property.
(15) Installation of  wrought iron gates and railings to the front of  the villa.
(16) Installation of modern PVC guttering all around the villa.
(17) Installation of computerized irrigation system.
(18) Construction of a water recycling system (95% complete)
(19) Replacement of all internal doors with heavy Oak doors.
(20) Removal of fitted wardrobes in all bedrooms and replaced with modern ones.
